What Is An E-Passport?
An e-passport is a technical variation of the generally accepted travel document that embraces both physical and digital authentication. It contains a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip and an antenna that are utilized to securely store personal and biometric data such as:
- Fingerprints
- Facial image
- Digital photograph
- Iris scan
It assures swifter immigration check-ins, locks away the chances of duplication and forgery, and follows global standards set by ICAO. Most importantly, an e-passport is not replacing but upgrading the passport.
